Give your time, so that others can sit a course.

The practice of selfless service

Volunteering, or seva, is a vital part of the Satya Sadhna community. Giving your time and energy to support others on the path is not just a practical need of the Kendra; it is an extension of the meditative practice itself, helping to dissolve the ego and cultivate compassion.

Who can serve

Serving at an on-campus retreat needs a practical understanding of the daily schedule, the discipline of noble silence and the sensitive setting of a course. So only old students, those who have completed at least one 10-day course with Satya Sadhna Kendra, may serve during courses.

What volunteers do

Volunteers (sevadars) are the backbone of every course and of the upkeep of the centres at Nal and Kheyada. Depending on the Kendra's needs and your abilities, seva can include:

  • During courses: helping in the kitchen and preparing vegetarian meals, ringing the daily bells, keeping the meditation halls and campus clean, helping at the registration desk on arrival day, and keeping the setting peaceful for deep meditation.
  • Between courses: helping with campus upkeep, gardening, repairs and office work, and preparing the centre for coming retreats.

Offer your time

If you have completed a 10-day course and wish to offer your time, please apply for seva by writing to kushlayatan@gmail.com or by contacting the Nal or Kheyada centre directly. The course coordinators will tell you where your help is most needed.
